Meet the Correspondents

  • Correspondents are people who write posts and post images of sketches done from life and on location on this blog
  • An "original Urban Sketcher" refers to people who are also correspodents for the main Urban Sketchers blog.

The 'Out of Towner' Guest Correspondents

The focus of this blog is on people who sketch London.  However some people sketch London even if they don't live here.

Our Guest Correspondents are people who sketch London - but don't live here (although some did in the past). Additional Guest Correspondents are
  1. Pete Scully - an original Urban Sketcher - formerly of North London, currently living in Davis, California;
  2. Julie Oakley - an original Urban Sketcher - lives in Hertfordshire
  3. Les Williams - lives in Norfolk and leads the Bankside Sketching Group
If you are an Urban Sketcher with another Urban Sketchers Group and are visiting London and will be sketching while you are here you can apply to be a Guest Correspondent.

Our Manifesto
We all comply with the Urban Sketchers Manifesto
  1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
  2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.
  3. Our drawings are a record of time and place.
  4. We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
  5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
  6. We support each other and draw together.
  7. We share our drawings online.
  8. We show the world, one drawing at a time.
    Apply to be a Correspondent

We're looking to grow the correspondents for this blog (ie the people who write posts and post images of sketches done from life and on location) via
Basically we review what you have to say about your sketch when posted on your blog and/or the Urban Sketchers London Group Pool.  We're looking for people who can write short pieces about the place they have sketched as well as sketch.
    What you need to do
    1. Check out the manifesto at the top of the right hand column of this blog to see if this the sort of sketching you do.

      • your 'online name'
      • where you live in London
      • how long you've been sketching
      • what proportion of your sketches are produced on location
      • whether you are already a member of the main Urban Sketchers blog - and want a guest membership because you're visiting London
      • we need to see your sketches.  Show us them by:
        • EITHER: supplying your blog name and URL - and how long you've been blogging
        • AND/OR: supplying your Flickr account name and URL (and whether or not you're a member of the Urban Sketchers Group on Flickr and/or the Urban Sketchers London Flickr Group)
